KS1 - Robotic Days (Lego WeDo)

Pupils will use a range of kits to build robots and control them using coding through a range of apps. Completing challenges and tasks throughout the day using the skills they have gained.

LEGO WeDo 2.0 is a hands-on STEAM learning system that combines LEGO bricks, a SmartHub, a motor, and tilt and motion sensors with intuitive drag-and-drop icon coding to introduce primary pupils to foundational programming, science, and engineering concepts.

What the session could include

  • Classroom Activities will include:
  • Whole-Class Guided STEM Challenges: Collaborative learning experiences where the entire class works through designing, constructing, and programming models like motorized vehicles, automated structures, and simple environmental sensors.
  • Core Curriculum Connections: Hands-on science and computing lessons that allow all pupils to explore key curriculum concepts simultaneously at an accessible pace.
  • Interactive Discovery & Coding: Combining intuitive drag-and-drop block coding with physical mechanics to introduce fundamental computational thinking and problem-solving to the whole class.
