Reflecting on a Season of Innovation: Our Spring Term Highlights:

As the blossoms begin to appear, we’re taking a moment to look back at an incredible Spring Term. It has been a season defined by curiosity, "aha!" moments, and some truly impressive technical feats from students across all key stages.

From the youngest learners exploring the world through virtual reality to Year 6 pupils mastering complex robotics, the energy in the classrooms has been electric. Here is a look at what we achieved together.

🤖 Bringing Code to Life

Robotics and programming were at the heart of our term. We saw students transition from basic commands to complex problem-solving:

  • Lego Robotics & EV3s: Year 6 groups tackled advanced engineering challenges, using sensors and algorithms to bring their creations to life.

  • Sphero & Crumble: We explored physical computing with various kits, helping students understand the bridge between a screen and a moving object.

🌍 Expanding Horizons with VR

One of the standout features of this term was our VR Focus Days. We used Virtual Reality to transport pupils beyond the classroom walls:

  • Exploring the Ocean & Polar Regions: Students dived deep into marine biology and trekked through the Arctic, providing a sensory-rich foundation for their geography and science topics.

  • Time Travel: We used digital tools to link to history, bringing civilisations like the Maya and the Vikings to life in a way that traditional textbooks simply can't.

🎬 Digital Storytelling & Creativity

Computing isn't just about math and logic; it’s a powerful tool for expression. This term, we celebrated the "A" in STEAM:

  • Stop Motion Animation: Several year groups explored the patience and precision of stop-motion, creating their own short films.

  • Video Editing & Photography: Students learned to look at the world through a different lens—literally—mastering perspective and digital editing to share their unique stories.

  • Minecraft Education: We harnessed the power of game-based learning to engage students in collaborative building and algorithmic thinking.

⚽ More Than Just a Game: VR Fun with the Wolves

One of the absolute highlights of the Spring Term was our collaboration with the Wolves Foundation (WWFC) during their Premier League Girls Under-11 event. While the primary focus was on the pitch, we wanted to offer the players a unique digital "half-time" break that was both high-tech and high-energy.

We introduced the players to the official Premier League VR app giving these young athletes a chance to step into a whole new dimension of football.

The session was a fantastic example of how EdTech can complement physical sports—offering a fun, immersive way to stay connected to the game while giving the players' legs a well-earned rest!

🌟 Our EdTech Advocates in Action:

Forget dry lectures and endless manuals! Our EdTech Advocates made sure our CPD sessions were as high-energy as a playground at break time, proving that even teachers love a bit of "learning by doing."

Through these sessions, our EdTech Advocates didn't just teach software; they built a pedagogical framework—focusing on Objective, Action, and Evidence—ensuring every digital interaction translates into a meaningful learning outcome.

Wrapping Up: A Well-Earned Break

This term has been a whirlwind of creativity and innovation. Whether students were building immersive environments , capturing live data in the field , or exploring new dimensions with Virtual Reality, the enthusiasm in every classroom was clear.

Thank you to all the staff, students, and our brilliant EdTech Advocates for making these sessions such a success. We hope you all have a fantastic, restful break—you’ve certainly earned it!

See you in the Summer Term!
